Conférence ISFORT – Laura Nikinmaa
Publié le 4 novembre 2026Increasing forest resilience in Finland: balancing restoration, productivity and climate change adaptation
Nous avons le plaisir d’accueillir Laura Nikinmaa, chercheuse au Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), pour une conférence portant sur les défis de la gestion forestière en Finlande.
Résumé de la conférence :
Finland’s forests are a corner stone of country’s economy, with the vast majority of profits coming from Norway spruce and Scots pine. The recent increase in drought and bark beetle damages as well as the continuous decline in forest biodiversity have raised the concern about the resilience of forests and the need to rethink how forests are managed. At the same time, EU’s new Nature Restoration Regulation requires increased efforts in restoring degraded habitats, which puts limits how much and which areas can be managed intensively. With more than 50% of the forests privately owned, finding the right ways to balance biodiversity conservation, forestry and climate change adaptation is crucial for increasing the resilience of Finnish forests and society.
